A Very Dangerous Man by Cliff Mansfield

In A Very Dangerous Man, Cliff Mansfield crafts a gripping, action-packed tale of vengeance, redemption, and self-discovery. The story follows Michael Colton, a battle-hardened Marine turned vigilante, who finds himself teetering on the edge of self-destruction after the brutal murder of his wife and unborn child. His relentless pursuit of revenge against those responsible leaves him empty, drifting through life with little purpose.

Set in the decaying town of St. Helens, Oregon—a once-thriving lumber hub now overrun by crime—Colton throws himself into dangerous situations, hoping for an end to his pain. His journey leads him to a ruthless outlaw biker gang, where he seeks out the violent chaos that might finally bring him peace. But as he fights his way through enemies, he unexpectedly finds himself standing up for the innocent, particularly a young girl and her mother caught in the clutches of an abusive man.

What makes A Very Dangerous Man more than just a tale of brutal combat and raw violence is its introspective depth. Colton’s inner turmoil is shaped by the ghosts of his past, including a tragic wartime mistake that haunts him. His encounter with a mysterious figure—possibly a ghost from his own bloodline—shakes him to the core, forcing him to reconsider his fate.

Ultimately, Colton’s story is one of transformation. A man who once sought death begins to realize that perhaps his purpose lies not in seeking an end, but in using his skills to protect those who cannot protect themselves. With Mansfield’s signature blend of gritty action, dark humor, and deep emotional conflict, A Very Dangerous Man delivers a thrilling and thought-provoking read.

If you’re drawn to stories about lone warriors, redemption arcs, and brutal, no-holds-barred action, this book is one you won’t want to miss.

Cliff Mansfield, Author

Born in 1951 into an Eastern Oregon farming life, I grew up operating heavy equipment and hunting deer at very long range. Often 1,000 yards or more. I left to tour the world in 1970. When I got back in 1978 I started night school studying mechanical engineering and during the day I worked in Highway Construction. 130 hour weeks were common, but being young, it never bothered me. I was employed by a single company from 1978 to 1989. In 1990 I started an Engineering Consultant business and began writing what I call ‘Techno-Babble’ for major industry publications. A GOOGLE search of my name will pull up numerous articles I’ve written. Since starting my company, C.M. Consulting I’ve been privileged to work in numerous countries including China, Russia, Senegal, South Africa, Australia and many more. I particularly enjoy the remote Pacific Islands. The solitude of a remote Pacific beach at sunset is soothing to a soul plagued by the past.

I also own and operate a very selective Class 3 Gun Store where I build and sell Short Barrelled Rifles (SBRs), Tactical Rifles and pistols. I sell sound suppressors also. I offer classes in firearms safety and beginner Hand to Hand combat.
